The Jolly Phonics Our World Nonfiction Purple readers are fully decodable books for new readers. They have a carefully controlled vocabulary and help children apply the skills they have been taught. They use the 42 letter sounds taught in Jolly Phonics, together with alternative vowel spellings.


Comprehension questions, discussion topics and guidance for teachers and parents are included at the end of each book. Light type indicates letters that should not be sounded out, such as the /b/ in “lamb”.
